My original Question:
Hi gurus,
I keep getting 'automountd [394] : server heavy not responding' in /var/adm messages file of some of my SunOS 5.x servers.
heavy is an alias of one of the server that is not even in service anymore that is down and gone, so the messages seemed reasonable.
After some investigation i found entries like ' auto_direct /usr/local/lib.heavy autofs ignore direct.........' in my /etc/mnttab files. I commented out those lines but the problem still persists. In my /usr/local directories there are LIB and BIN directories that are linked with lib.heavy and bin.heavy directories. When I tried to see what were in those directories, as soon as i did :
cd lib.heavy
ls
my cursor was stuck. it just didnt' move at all. I'm not sure if that is causing the problem and if i need those directories.
Any ideas from the gurus would be great.
Thanks.
Prabhat
Thanks to all the responses, especially to Mark at bloch@enteract.com
I simply used
fuser -ck /usr/local/lib.heavy
umount /usr/local/lib.heaby
and cleaned up my automount maps and it worked like charms!!
