The consensus response was that I need to run:
/opt/SUNWspci/bin/sunpciflash/sunpciupdate
before flashing the BIOS with sunpciflash. Had I tried
to run SunPCI after installing the patch I applied, I would
apparently have been told to do this. As to why the patch
doesn't change the pkginfo version of SunPCI, patches are
not supposed to do this (according to Matthew Stier and Casper Dik).
