Okay, I'm a complete idiot without my first cup of coffee. . .I'll
understand the flames if they come,
but I'm letting you know now so you don't waste your time.
I should have looked one more time at the manpage before sending the
message. RTFM, right?
If the entry in the hosts.equiv file only has the hostname in it, then
the user on that hostname
can remote shell to that workstation as the user he/she is logged on
as. I he/she tries to use
the rsh -l option, the password prompt will come up. By putting both
hostname and a username
in the hosts.equiv, you are basically allowing that user to log on the
the workstation as anyone but root.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and I'm sure I deserve the flames.
