Thanks very much to all those to replied, my solution came from Steve
Turgeon:
I had this problem once - the transmit pair was burned out on the hub, but
the receive pair was good. This allows you to snoop packets and the link
status is ok. Try a different port on the switch. Steve

Subject: Problem with le interface on SS20
Hi all,
I come across a network problem with a Sparc Server 20. The server is
running Solaris 2.6 5/98 and has ROM Rev. 2.25, the problem is I can't ping
any machines on my subnet.
At the PROM level I can detect network packets with watch-net,
snoop can detect network traffic from the subnet,
arp -a gives the correct address resolutions,
I can ping the loopback,
There is no IP number conflict and the netmask setting is correct,
ifconfig -a gives no nonsense,
The switch the interface is talking to is 10 MB/s.
I have a default router, but I can't even ping that.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance,
Koon
