Suns position is that in theory you can (with the machine running), take one
of the CPU/Memory cards offline, remove it from the machine, repair it, put
it back into the machine and bring it online. Unfortunately this feature is
not available in Solaris 2.6. Sun referred me to

I have an E5500 with a bad memory board. All documentation tells me the
borad can be hot swapped. I have had several Sun field enigineers tell me
the machine will crash if I attempt a hot swap.
Has anyone actually actually witnessed a CPU/Memory board being hot swapped
on an E5500?
