SUMMARY[2]: swap -l output wrong ?

After my first summary posted , I got several response . thanks to all.

The truth is after a reboot , all works normal : the 'swap -l' 'free'
doesn't
go to zero .

I think kevin is right, that the device is configured incorrectly, although
I
can't sure. but I can sure is that under normal operation, the 'swap -l'
'free'
should reflect the usage of swap space.

My original question is that on one of my solaris2.6 system the output
of 'swap -l' shows the free column equal to zero. like this:

#swap -l
swapfile dev swaplo blocks free
/dev/vx/dsk/swapvol 158,5 16 4194272 0

I want to know if this means some swap space shortage .

Neill said that the -l parameter just reports the physical attributes of my
swap
area, 0 free meaning all of the swap space on the partition is available,
while
doesn't necessary means a swap space shortage.

but i am still confused . I did a lab on a solaris 2.5.1 workstation. when
more
processes are running on my workstation , the 'swap -l' 'free' is
decreasing ,
until process forking failing , the 'swap -l' 'free' never get ot zero. And
when
some processes exit , the 'swap -l' 'free' raising again. I think it's
almost
impossible for it to get to zero , and stay there forever .

If anyone have any insight , don't hesitate to mail me.
