SUMMARY: File change notification

     Thanks to the 35 or so responses to my question. The overwhelming
     majority (all but two or three) recommended Tripwire, and it looks
     like exactly what I'm looking for.

     I'm looking for something that I can run nightly as a cron job that will
     check ownership, permissions, and file checksums (or something
     equivalent) in specified directories, and email me if anything changes
     from one day to the next. Any good programs out there (preferably
     free/shareware)?
