SUMMARY: AMD or AUTOMOUNTER?

Hi,

I know this is a silly question but I didn't find anything on amd and
since my system (BTW SunOS 4.1.3) is running amd instead of automount I
was wondering why the previous administrator used it?

I got a lot of responses on this question (thanks to all in particular
Dieter Gobbers).

Turns out that 'automounter' doesn't work properly on SunOS 4.1.3 (crash
when an NFS client goes down ...) and 'amd' is much more reliable and
flexible.
