Hi Sun Managers,
My apologies for the delay in posting this summary.
Thanks to the following people for their thoughtful input in this muddy
subject.

Most of the respondents advised me to look into Totalnet Access Server
product from Syntax or the Samba product available on the internet as a
public domain product.
The management here is very picky about installing software that is not
supported. So, I went ahead and called syntax to request an eval of their
TAS product. I have been playing with it for the past few weeks and I must
say that from what I can gather so far it does most of the things that I
want it to do. Their pre-sales support has been pretty good. They have been
able to resolve most of the issues that I have come up with so far. The
administration is browser based which is pretty easy to get used to. It does
seem to simplify the NFS administration quite a bit.
I haven't moved the data yet but it should not be too bad.
