Thanks to all who responded!

I recieved several repiles, most of which stated that I should check my
hostname.le0, and hosts. Unfortunatley I forgot to mention in the original
question that I had done this a thousand times, and I was still confused, as
everything seeed ok.

One thing that did work was from Colin Melville:

>Probably the quickest way to fix it is to run /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig. This

This one worked, and I got incredible mileage, so I didn't get to try these:

1.)

>edit a script in /etc/rc3.d/S22virtual.routes
>
>and add
>ifconfig le0 159.139.90.100 up netmask 255.255.0.0
>
>
>it will come up after reboot ..
>
>cheers and have fun
>
>bosire

2.)

>have you tried reboot -- -rv ( rebooting with reconfigure option)
>option b
>ifconfig le0 plumb
>ifconfig le0 inet no netmask up
>reboot
>(this should bring the interface up)
>option c
>pls look at /etc/rcS.d/S30rootusr.sh file to see whether thats corrupted.
>or try running that file from command line.
>other option.d
>create a file starting S22____ having the entry of your command and put
that
>file in rc3.d or rc2.d ( depending
>on which directory is read first during boot sequence as set in inittab
file
>( i do not think you need to resort to this)
>but might help you incase you need to customise something that needs to be
>in startup script
>regards
>
>ganeshan

3.)

>check your entries in /etc/`hostname`.le0, /etc/netmasks, /etc/hosts, also
the
>/etc/init.d/inetinit network startup script
>
>Jim Robertori

And now my original question....
