I asked
(abbreviated)
> I notice that when I send out an email, sendmail wants to do a DNS
> lookup for the domain of the outgoing email .
> I don't need this how can I turn this off.
I got a variiety of replies, includign a few that said it could not be done
at all.
But the trick is to
A) set the smart relay mailer
(in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf as )
# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DSmailhost.$m
and
B) make sure that mailhost is in your /etc/hosts
Other people suggested adding
FEATURE(nodns)dnl
to the m4 configuration files, but we have an older version of sendmail.
Many thanks to all who replied (too many to list here).
Kind regards,
