Sub : Can't set "devalias" in OPEN BOOT 2.0
Org :
Dear Mgrs,
SS20 with Openboot version 2.0.
I have an 4.2G Unipack which hooked up to SS20. The ID is set to
5. Of course I want it to be my default boot device so I did the
following.
ok devalias
screen /iommu@f.....
disk /iommu@f/sbus/espdma@f,4000000/esp@f,8000000/sd@3,0 (My old boot
disk)
tape0 /io........./st@4,0
tape1 /io........./st@5,0
disk3
disk2
disk1
disk0
ok devalias disk5 /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,40000/esp@f,800000/sd@5,0
ok nvstore
ok devalias (Shows alias disk5!)
ok boot disk5 (fine and get the login prompt)
init 0
ok devalias
The disk5 no longer there ...
What's wrong with the above procedures ???
Answer :
ok nvalias disk5 /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,40000/esp@f,800000/sd@5,0
ok setenv boot-device disk5
ok reset
or
ok nvalias disk5 /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,40000/esp@f,800000/sd@5,0
ok reset
Do a <STOP-A> after the banner is displayed. (devalias should now
display disk5.)
ok boot disk5

Before asking this question, I went thru' the "OPENBOOT Quick
Reference" in
docs.sun.com. It said :
devalias alias device-path : Define an alias representing the device
path. If an alias with the same name already exists, the new value
supersedes the old.
Anyway, thanks for all the mgrs mentioned above.
Regards!
