I had submitted a request for mail groups that deal with network
issues. This is, apparently, an elusive list. I received two
references for nanog@merit.edu (http://www.nanog.org) from Rik
Schneider and Rodney Marable. Rik very correctly states that the
'nanog' list has a high 'noise to signal' ratio. The list is
used mostly as an open discussion forum among ISP admins and many
of the messages are casual discussions about fiber cuts, SPAM, ....
However, the occasional message does deal with detailed router and
network issues. The list is useful for ISP admins and be useful
for network admins who can endure the high traffic. Previous to
submitting the sun managers request, I searched 'http://www.lsoft.com
/lists/LIST_Q.html' and 'http://www.liszt.com/' without success -
so if there is a network group out there, it is not easy to find.
Thanks,
Peter Polasek
