I got one response that offered a possible solution from thadm@oregonian.com
(Thad MacMillan)
Hi,
I had the exact problem on an SparcStation-LX. I don't know which patch did
the evil deed, or why another identically configured machine was fine, but
I got the updated screenblank code "screenblank_02jun95.tar.gz" compiled it
and it worked fine.
You should be able to get it from ftp.ececs.uc.edu in /pub/sun-faq/Source,
If not, I can send you my tarfile.
--------------
Unfortunately, this behaved the same way. The only solution for now is not to
run screenblank at all.
Thanks all,
