Folks:
Original Question:
Anyone have a st.conf entry for an Archive Python 28388 4mm
tape drive. Using the builtins for the 28454 and 29279 don't seem to
be giving me access to any density other than the default.
OS is 5.5.1 Generic_103640-22 (Aug 29 download of cluster patches).
BTW: the patch 105789-02 in the cluster appears to be corrupt,
had to back it out, and then re-install from a new single patch image. My
copy of the cluster came from sunsite.unc.edu.
TIA...and will summerize (one on the disk problems is coming...)...
Solution:
Looking for another manual, I came across the re-sellers fact
sheet for the tape drive. Classic case of RTFM -- it should have been
with the manufacturer's manual in the hardware bookcase, but wasn't -
%<(. It had the params I needed:
tape-config-list=
"ARCHIVE Python 28388","Archive Python 4mm Helical Scan","Archive-DAT";
Archive-DAT = 1,0x2c,0,0xde39,4,0x00,0x13,0x7f,0x24,3;
Other responses below, thanks to those who tried to help....

does the archive python have an entry for solaris 2.5.1?
(ie: how can I check)?
I have a drive (I think it's an archive python)
but it's not being recognized...
(ie: for any writes)

>From X86 Solaris 2.6 /kernel/drv/st.conf:
"ARCHIVE Python 28388", "Archive/Conner CTDX004 4mm DAT", "Conner2-DAT",
Conner2-DAT = 1,0x2c,0,0xde39,1,0x00,0;
No idea if it works, but maybe worth a try.
