The solutions is as follows:
1) I called Sun and found out that my C++ 4.1 licenses will NOT work
with C++ 4.2 version... We will have to purchase a $300.00 upgrade to
do this... :-(
2) the big problem was the developers had a custom coded Makefile,
which based on the OS, would call the 4.1 or 4.2 compiler. If the os
is 5.5.1 then use 4.1 else use 4.2...Well...since I upgraded the
machine from Solaris 2.5.1 to 2.6...all compiles were trying to use
the 4.2 compiler on a different machine, for which we only had 2
licenses (and 2 for the 4.1 compiler, which were not being used...)
I still do not know why the -18 Flex error occurs when I try to use
the lmdiag command on the licenses_combined file (on the upgraded
system - it works fine on the 4.2 compiler system...) But the
licenses do seem to work ok.
I had already spoken with Sun before writing and they were not much
help.
I had also already downloaed the new FLEXlm code and tried it...same
-18 error.
The biggest problem was the Makefile the developers were using..not
the system!!!
Thanks again for your suggestions...
Tim.
