I have successfully imported all the diskgroups except one from the
server with Solaris 2.4 to Solaris 2.5.1 with the steps I posted. The
diskgroup failed to import since there is a bad disk inside the
diskgroup, and i should have removed it before I export the diskgroup.
All the filesystem is back after I import them, and start the volume.
No data seems to be lost.
Thanks for Jim McVey for you info.
Original post:
"I need to move the SSA from a Sparc 1000E with Solaris 2.4 to another
new Sparc 1000E with Solaris 2.5.1 installed. The Volume Manager
installed in the Solaris 2.4 machine is 2.1.1. and firmware for the
SSA ver 3.6
What should be my precaution?
Will the following step be alright for me to prevent the diskgroup
that I have been created previously?
1)Installed volume manager 2.1.1 - 2.5 Packages into the new Sparc
1000E with solaris 2.5.1
2)Umount the old filesystem, stop the volume, deport the diskgroup.
3) connect the fibre channel line to the new machine.
4) reboot server
5) import diskgroup"
