Please forgive this post and no offense taken from Greg but I want to make
sure the world knows that I AM BY NO MEANS, SHAPE OR FORM A MICROSOFTY.
I AM probably one of the most dedicated Sun Admins ever and wish Redmond
would go up in a ball of flames!!!
(My apologies to those who are innocent living in Wash.)

Connolly suggestion "Reboot!!!" did the job.

He could then connect to the NFS drives w/o difficulty or password prompt.

BTW, we have Samba exporting our home directories, and sure enough they
failed after we got Bug Pack 3 installed; once we had the computer services
dep't edit the registry to allow cleartext passwords, Samba worked again.
