It seems that the error:
Can't find server name for address 198.22.xxx.xxx
Was pretty easy to solve. As demonstrated by Jochen Bern, all I needed to
do was compile a newer version of BIND. I compiled BIND 4.9.6 and that did
the trick.
The only catch is that if you want to follow Sun's unsupported method for
using DNS without NIS on a SunOS 4.1.3 machine, you must do that before
your install the new version of BIND. This is because when you install the
new version of BIND it replaces the old libresolve library.
Thanks to everyone who replied! I usually list them all, but I got about
40 replies and don't have the time to type out all of the names.

My origonal message:
I have setup a SunOS 4.1.3 box, and I am attempting to connect it to the
internet via a dedicated PPP line. This machine is setup as our Gateway
from our internal network to the internet. My ISP is currently doing the
DNS for our domain.
When I connect and attempt to do an nslookup I get the following error:
Can't find server name for address 198.22.xxx.xxx
I looked at SunSolve and it says that the DNS server can use the command
"options fake-query" in the named.boot file. Not only is my ISP is
unwilling to do this, but I can't seem to resolve address from ANY DNS
server I have attempted to do lookups on.
Does anyone know a way around this problem? I could setup my machine as
the primary DNS server, but I don't know for sure if that would solve my
problem.
Any help would be great. Thanks..
