Original Question:
Hardware : SS20 128MB RAM
OS : Solaris 2.6 3/98
I'm having problems with patchadd when I try to patch the
Net Install Image on the hard disk.
After the following command
patchadd -C /export/install/Solaris_2.6/Tools/Boot \
/var/spool/patches/patchid
the system goes into hibernation after the message
installing patch packages...
It never comes back and ultimately has to be interrupted.
My questions are:
1.Has anybody used patchadd successfully to patch the Net Install Image?
2. Is there any other way (fastpatch ?) to patch the install image?
Answer :
The simple answer came from Casper Dik. The Net Install Image
cannot be patched. What can be patched is Net Boot Image which
the clients use to boot from. But even this functionality is
broken although it can be made to work with patch 106125-01 or
higher.
