The Solution:
2.6 changes the nsswitch.conf file when you set up a diskless
client and points it to nis. I never checked that before I posted because I
knew I did not change it. I assumed since I did not change it - it would point
to files. I know never assume! Thanks everyone!
My original question:
I have a quick question. I have a number of diskless clients in my
environment. Everything worked fine until I upgraded to Solaris 2.5.1 -11/97
and then to 2.6. (It broke with 2.5.1 -11/97 and stayed broke with 2.6) When I
try to boot the client I get the following message:
syslog service starting
syslog line 24: unexpected getnetconfig failure
Date Time sun4m-26-1 sendmail [322] : NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): NIS map
passwd
byname specified, but NIS not running
Date Time sun4m-26-1: Not Enough space
Date Time sendmail [322] :NOQUEUE : SYSERR(root): NIS map mail.aliases
specified but NIS not running
volume management starting
The system is ready
I am not running NIS or sendmail and I never have. I have done a couple
bug searches and not found anything refering to this message. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
