I had posted a message regarding slow performance of _downloads_ on large
email messages using Qualcomm Popper and UCB popper. Apparently, when a
user attempted to download a message >300kb, it would appear to hang in
the midst of the download, usually toward the end. Killing the POP3
process produced the effect of "completing" the download.
Nickolai Zeldovich recommended that I upgrade to CuciPOP, which I have
done. With the exception of some small quirks, it appears to have fixed my
problem.
My Original Message:
Greetings Sun Managers!
SunOS 4.1.4 w/ Qualcomm Popper and UCB Pop3
I've been having a problem for a few months regarding POP3 performance on
large >300k mail messages. Users who use both Netscape and Eudora report
difficulty/impossibility in downloading large mail messages. It appears
that the download hangs at the end of the message. While testing this, I
experienced the same problem, but when I logged in and killed my popper
process, it completed the transfer sucessfully. Has anyone else
experienced a problem with POP3 on Suns? Any help would be appreciated.
