Hello Sun Managers,
Sorry that this summary is so long in comming, but I have been getting swamped.

My original question was:
> Last week the internal/boot HD om my Sparc 5 took a nose dive. So my
> question is how large a hard drive can I replace it with? It had a 1 gig
> drive in it. I know wht the physical dimensions are, but can I put a 4
> gig drive in there? I am currently running Solaris 2.5.1, with 64MB of RAM.

The official answer, from SunExpress, is that a 2.1 G is the highest supported
capacity.

The un-official answer is that you can use a 4 G drive , but its not officially
supported by Sun, and it will work just fine. But you have to remember that
Solaris 2.5.1 has a max file system size of 2 G. So you wont be able to put
everything under / with a 4 G drive.

Many thanks to all the folks who gave their answers and
also gave me the phone number to SunExpress. I am going with a 2.1 G drive
cause I can't afford to buy a 4 G drive right now. Its a Seagate Baracuda
ST-32550WC . It should arive tomorrow. I can't wait!

Thanks to all the following who answered my question:
Tim Fritz
Jeff Woolsey
James Harmon
Michael Baumann
David Thorburn-Gundlach
Dongho Lee
Syed Zaeem Hosain
Eugene Kramer
Dan Simoes

Thanks again,
Ted Layher
