ORIGINAL QUESTION:
When I start CDE from dtlogin, the console window works OK.
When I login from the command line, and start CDE running
xinit /usr/dt/bin/Xsession &
the console is not recognized, and all the console output goes to the
back
of the screen, destroying the display (I have to do a refresh to see it
again).
The console I had, was the one opened from the CDE popup menu.
I was suggested to start it using a command line
xterm -C &
When I try to do this, I can see the following error:
xterm: console rederiction failed
An xterm is open but it still doesn't work as the console.
SOLUTION
A big THANKS to Eugene Kramer <eugene@uniteq.com> and
K. Ravi <ravkrish.in.oracle.com.ofcmail@in.oracle.com>
for their accurate and prompt answer.
The problem was that if starting the Xsession in the background,
the console returns to the command prompt, and can't be
redirected.
What I had to do was to start CDE with the command:
xinit /usr/dt/bin/Xsession (withouth the &).
Thanks for your help bodys,
Mariel
