Many thanks to Casper Dik who pointed out that gcc should not be used
with -I/usr/include .Yes, there is a FAQ that mentions it, i wish i
knew it before posting my question

Original posting:
Hello everybody,
We are facing the following problem regarding gcc (2.8.0) while trying
to compile sendmail v8.8.5. GCC does not seem to understand the built-in
function __builtin_va_alist which is used in va_start:
# ./makesendmail
Configuration: os=SunOS, rel=5.6, rbase=5, rroot=5.6, arch=sun4, sfx=
Making in obj.SunOS.5.6.sun4
gcc -I. -O -I/usr/include -DNDBM -DNIS -DNISPLUS -DSOLARIS=20600 -c conf.c
conf.c: In function `setproctitle':
conf.c:2313: `__builtin_va_alist' undeclared (first use this function)
conf.c:2313: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
conf.c:2313: for each function it appears in.)
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `conf.o'
# uname -a
SunOS lunar 5.6 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
Any ideas about what could be wrong?
Thanks in advance
