Thanks to:

for responding to my problems with a Sparc 2. The problem has grown
increasingly worse, and /usr/bin/bash and /usr/bin/sh no longer exist. I
can't log in as root, and a re-install will be necessary.

It was determined that the problem was not with the statd patch. We suspect
that the problem lies in the hard drives mounted as / and /usr. Thanks for
the attempt, the original text follows:

Has anyone else had trouble with the new statd patch? I installed it on a
Sparc2 running Solaris 2.5.1 with 32 megs of RAM running the CDE, and it
caused major problems. It corrupted most of the user passwords (not root's,
luckily), you can't log on using the CDE, and networking is gone completely.
This machine is not mission critical, but I'd like to bring it back up. Are
there any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks in advance, and I will post a summary.
