SUMMARY: Remote mounting swap space to Sol 2.5 client from Sol 2.6 server.

A quick summary for a quickly resolved problem.

It seems there was a bug in Solaris 2.5 NFS that works in such a way
that everything is internally consistent between Solaris 2.5 servers
and clients, but obviously the bug doesn't exist in the later releases
(or a patched 2.5) so an inconsistency occurs between 2.5 clients and
2.6 servers. This is okay for normal files, but it causes problems with
swap files.

Short solution? Either patch the Solaris 2.5 client or upgrade it to
Solaris 2.6 (which I will be doing shortly anyway).

Thanks to Casper Dik (casper@holland.sun.com) for the full answer,
and also to Matthew Stier <Matthew.Stier@tddny.fujitsu.com> for some
other insight.
