I am going to set up a Solaris 2.6 box to be a DHCP server for Solaris 2.5
and up machines. I read the Answerbook2 and the Solaris 2.X faq (Casper
Dik's) on configuring a machine as a client. According to the faq, for a
Solaris 2.5 machine you need to install two packages (SUNWdhcsr and
SUNWdhcsu). Ok, that's no problem. However, it appears that you need the
new functionality of ifconfig in Solaris 2.6 in order to enable the client.
Has anyone done this and if so how?

Summary:
In short, there is no DHCP client support for Solaris 2.5 from Sun.
However, there are commercial and freeware clients available (I downloaded
one from the ISC).
