Hi,
My problem is not fully solved.
Most of the suggestions were to add more RAM .

The problem :
We are running internet news daemon - innd ( netscape 1.1 ) on
>our sparc running 2.5 . The machine normally crawls and takes long time
to
>respond. The out put of top shows
>load averages: 0.90, 0.82, 0.76
>88 processes: 84 sleeping, 2 running, 1 zombie, 1 on cpu
>Cpu states: 0.0% idle, 0.0% user, 6.7% kernel, 30.7% wait, 62.6% swap
>Memory: 59640K real, 508K free, 132748K swap, 46396K free swap
>
>note that the cpu state is 0% idle .

The solutions suggested :

1) Do a sar -w 2 3
In our machine , it does not show anything above 0 in the first four
columns .
We are running a sparc 4m machine .
2) Add more memory
I agree to it that the system needs more memory .
top shows most of the memory is occupied by in.nnrpd processes which
number to nearly 50 in ps output. Is it normal in an nntp server .Any one
has experience in seting up an nntp server.Even after adding more memory
these processes could incease and clog up that too ..
Awating your suggesstions
