SUMMARY Changing Netmask

Hi SM's,
My origional question was;
I need to change the netmask of my sun machines. Do I need to reboot
> the machine or I can restart a deamon to get my job done after editing
> the netmasks file ?.

I am grateful for all the replies sent to me. I tried the ifconfig and
it did work but when I rebooted the machine I lost what I had changed.
