Hello all,
I won't recap here as Gnuchev Fedor has accurately Summarised for me,
and stolen my thunder!
;)
While the bug is a rather nasty one, and I know now that the exploit is
well known on USENET
and the general UNIX/Sun community at large (and the crackers),
there really does not seem to be any decent solutions apart from Mark
Henderson's ndd workaround.
We are checking this workaround to ensure it does not break anything we
depend on, since we
use ping somewhat for checking host accessibility etc...
Thanks to all who replied - and there were at least 20 of you!!
