I had asked a number of questions regarding upgrading an existing system from
Solstice DiskSuite 4.0 to 4.1, as well as asking if the upgrade was really worth
the risk. The bottom line is that the upgrade SHOULD be very simple, just a
straight package install, but it should not be performed without first getting a
full (ufs)dump/backup of the entire system. No one was able to provide
compelling reasons to perform the upgrade prior to my performing a very urgently
needed storage upgrade on my server.
My plan at this point is to live with SDS 4.0, with the latest patch(es), until
a purchase of a new server machine is completed. I will upgrade to the latest
SDS version, as well as the latest revision of Solaris, when installing the new
server machine. Thus, the transition to the new OS and new SDS will take place
as part of moving my server functions to the new machine.
