SUMMARY: locking serial port

My original question was regarding my serial port on SunOS 5.5.1
mysteriously locking up. The only suggestion I had was that perhaps I
was picking up ^S chars and pausing the port.

I switched to another modem and still had the problem. My next step was
to build an adaptor to try using cua/b but first I spend 20 minutes or
more on the phone with Sun and we couldn't free the port up without a
reboot. However, it hasn't happened since. If it happens again, I will
just assume it's a bad motherboard from one of the times The Powers that
Be decided to test the generator by flicking off the mains for a moment
or two.

It is easier to change the specification to fit the program than vice
versa.
