My original posting:

We are looking into purchasing a Netra NFS server for our LAN to replace
some old equipment. I would like to use Samba on the Netra to allow PC
users to mount their home directories. Has anyone done this or do you know
of any reason why I would not be able to use Samba on a Netra?

Summary:

The general consensus is that Samba should work fine on the Netra. Several
respondents indicated that they have successfully done this with no problem.
The only catch is that you have to build Samba on a different machine
because the Netra doesn't have a complete OS. Or you can download
precompiled binaries from the well-known
http://smc.vnet.net/solaris_2.5.html website. I already use Samba on a
couple of our Solaris 2.5.1 servers and it works great.

Also, several individuals indicated that the Netra package includes Syntax
TotalNet which provides the same functionality as Samba and more. It is a
25 user package but you can buy more licenses.
