I asked about the differences between Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.5.1 4/97, and whether
there was a way to discriminate between the two in a custom jumpstart. The
answer is basically that Sun saw fit not only to include a pile of patches on
the 2.5.1 4/97 CD, supposedly to support new hardware, but to make the default
install action be the installation of those patches on ALL systems. There is a
way to skip the patch install, but I don't see how I do that in a portable way
(i.e., the same custom jumpstart floppy disks must be usable for the Solaris
2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.5.1 4/97 CDs). All I can say is thank you Sun... keeping our
custom jumpstart functional from one release to the next has been hard enough,
and now we have to deal with two different behaviors with no info available to
the jumpstart finish script to know which OS is being installed.
