My problem was with getting our X terminals to display/resolve the CDE
fonts. Although I had already copied those fonts into the tftpboot
area used by the terminals to get fonts, several suggestions I
received led me to check the font path definition for the
terminals (which I had somehow managed to forget to do
myself---oops!), and to uncompress the pcf fonts that CDE uses (which
required rebuilding the fonts.dir file with mkfntdir).
A couple of people mentioned using a font server, which I may very
well look into, also.
