Hello,
Thaks for all responses, sorry I did not list all helpers here, thanks
again!!
The part of solutions:
Switch the SCSI id of multipack to 7-14, then configure again, seem
works!?
I am very disappointed with Sun technical support,
First time they told me I need another Sbus card for my Ultra 2,
fortunately, lots helpers point out: no, I have wide SCSI on the Ultra
2, it can handle 15 devices.
now, I have two internal hard drives, one internal CD-ROM, one unipack
tape drive, I put the tape drive as last device on the SCSI chain and
put terminator (from multipack) on the tape drive (even it has
autoterminator), configured, seem works fine for a few hours, then
crash!
After disconnect SCSI devices, reboot, do fsck, then work fine.
I called Sun again,
1. I ask why I can not do probe-scsi, system will hang.
they told me a precedure, I tried:
ok> auto-boot? false
ok> reset
Stop-A at the middle of boot
ok> probe-scsi
This command may hang the system if a Stop-A or halt command has been
executed. Please type reset-all to reset the system before executing
this command.
Do you wish to continue? (y/n)y
System hung!!
Then I try:
ok> auto-boot? false
ok> reset-all
Stop-A at the middle of boot
ok> probe-scsi
This command may hang the system if a Stop-A or halt command has been
executed. Please type reset-all to reset the system before executing
this command.
Do you wish to continue? (y/n)y
System hung again!!
2. I ask why my system crash with multipack, they told me I need put
multipack on the last of SCSI chain without terminator.
I did not try this, because I read the manual again:
Wide Host-Tape Drive or CD-ROM
If a SPARCstorage Multipack unit and SPARCstorage UnitPack unit are
chained on a single SCSI bus, the UniPack unit must be last on the
chain.
Installing a Terminator
Each SPARCstorage MultiPack drive enclosure come with an external
single-ended terminator. Install the terminator on the unused lower SCSI
connector of a SPARCstorage MultiPack unit after you have connectd it to
the host or another SPARCstorage MultiPack unit.
So, they really confuse me, Anyone can clear out this for me, please!!
Thanks again!!!
