Hi all,
My original question was:

}I could not change root and users password with an
} error message "password file busy - try again" even
} after rebooting the system. The OS is Solaris 2.3.
} Can anyone tell me some hints. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for following people who gave me so prompt answers.

The correct answer is that the lock file /etc/ptmp or
/etc/stmp should be removed before changing the password.
To be safe, move /etc/ptmp to /etc/ptmp.back and /etc/stmp
to /etc/stmp.bak and try again. This should work fine.

Thanks again.
