My original question was in regards to finding an NFS-like component for
Macs. My current situation is with Network Appliance filers, so I
didn't try any of the suggestions that needed UNIX boxes.
Here's a recap of the suggestions I got:
tcpCONNECT4 (www.intercon.com) -
NFS client, includes LPR too. Easy setup, and works nicely.
Uses NIS for auithentication.
CAP (www.cs.mu.oz/appletalk/atalk.page) -
AppleTalk server software for UNIX. Didn't try this one, looks
interesting.
Netatalk (www.umich.edu/~rsug/netatalk) -
Lets your UNIX box look like an Appletalk fileserver.
DAVE (www.thursby.com) -
CIFS (SMB) for Macs. I liked this the best since my file
servers (NAC boxes) already do CIFS. Unfortunately, this
isn't shipping till the end of November and I couldn't
convince anyone to give me a demo copy.
Chameleon NFS (www.netmanage.com) -
NFS client for Mac, didn't try this one.
Thanks again for all the feedback.
