All,
Many thanks to the very many who responded and for the speed of the responses.
The general view was to make use of a terminal server to provide the
connectivity.
As far as connecting and disconnecting a terminal to a 'live' machine, the
key is to ensure that the power is left on the terminal when disconnecting
and connecting. This prevents the interrupt, which was where we were going
wrong.
The prom settings to check are :
output_device
input_device
tty?_rts_dtr_off
tty?_ignore_cd
tty?_mode
tty?_rts_dtr_off
tty?_ignore_cd
Thanks again,
Martin Jackson.
