Sun Managers,

To recap: Solaris 2.5 on ultra 1 creator. Lab configured for security; tcp
wrappers; central syslog files, tripwire etc.. Everything working fine until I
had to upgrade to 2.5.1 for a fast wide diff interface card. After the upgrade
you could no longer rlogin to this machine. All other services worked (telent,
rsh etc.) The error was "Connection Closed". That's it.
Once tcpd was removed from inetd.conf and inetd restarted; works fine. Some
suggestions were:

recomplie tcpd for sol2.x -- already was.
allow hosts.access direct access to this machine -- did it; nada
same as above fro .rhosts file; nothing.
check tcpd logs for errors -- nothing
permissions on /

SOLUTION: we also use a differnet login program for security. It got replaced
by the upgrade version of login. I put a copy back to /usr/bin/login and this
machine once again be remotely logged into.

The one who was the closest to the answer was Stanislov Protassov. He mentioned
that an upgrade to 2.5.1 replaces several files. like nsswitch.conf and others.
Make note it replaces login as well! If anyone knows of where there is a list
of replaced files/programs when upgrading I would like to know! As well as many
of you could use that information.
