My original question:
I have a Sparcstation IPX with 32MB of memory, running Solaris 2.5 and Wabi 2.1.When the user brings up Microsoft word in wabi, it takes up to a minute and a half for the screen to update what has been typed. Also the user tried to print several documents, they printed out 15 hours later on a NeWSprinter connected to the IPX(running NeWSprint 2.5). All of the recommended patches have been applied including the two patches for NeWSprint.
My questions are:
1) Is this normal for this configuration?
2) Is there a way of improving the performance of this system short of upgrading the system entirely?
The general consesus is that the IPX even with 64MB of memory is too underpowered to handle Wabi. It's either upgrade the system or offload the Microsoft applications to a PC. It was also suggested that I try Wabi 2.2, however I'll wait for the user to make a decision.
Once again Thanks all,
