The main solution was to use proctool which is a free GUI application available
for Solaris 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5, from Sun (but not supported). This allows
processes to be monitored and managed, graphs can also be produced, multiple
CPU's can be turned on/off etc. It is available using anonymous FTP from :-
