Thanks for all the quick responses!!!
The original question was something like this:
-------------------------------------------------------------
"In order to secure the network, a change was made to the
Cisco route by DP that connects us to the Internet. As a
result, you can no longer FTP files unless you have Internet
programs that support PASV mode"...... What should I do to
solve the problem??? Is DP nuts?
--------------------------------------------------------------
The general consensus was that Netscape's ftp supports PASV mode.
The other solution was to get ncftp which is available free from
ftp://ftp.probe.net/pub/ncftp
All fellow admins agreed that what DP did was to shut off the
UDP/TCP connection that allows ftp data to get back to me (port 20/21).
They all agreed that this was "not very nice" to do without supplying
infomation, or solutions to the rest of the network before they made the
change. Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do...
The only caviat is that not ALL servers support the PASV mode.
Thanks again...especially to Ray Smith and Gerald Combs for
their pointers to the solutions, and Martin Espinosa for his
explaination of PASV. Also....
