I am, as always, amazed at the help this list has been to me. If
it wasn't for the hardware maintenance, I'd say the Sun Maintenance
/ Support Contracts have nothing over this list :)
I got a bunch of responses, of two major types:
A) Yes, you can replace the IPI disk with a SCSI disk
B) This is how you fix an IPI disk ...
They were both useful, but due to the overwhelming agreement that
IPI sucks, I've started the process for purchasing a nifty new
SCSI-2 4Gig drive to replace the IPI drive in question; since we
already have a SCSI board in the machine, the drive should
negotiate a lower speed (one of the respondents mentioned the 490s
don't like fast SCSI much).
