HELP, ifconfig bad address ...

I set up a new Axil 245 at sun os 4.1.4
and had it running OK for a few days, then my manager
decided to play the musical workstation game, I am sure you
know, and when I go to reboot the system now, it get the
ifconfig: bad address

and not won't connect to the net.

I brought it up in single user mode, and checked the
ifconfig entry in the rc.local file and it is OK.

I checked the master NIS server, I ypcat hosts and see
the proper IP address. I check the master hosts file
and see the proper IP address, I checked the DNS
resolution with nslookup and it comes back OK.

So what's going on here? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.
