it should answer all your questions.
BTW your cisco should do PPP, and PPP has less overhead than SLIP. I
reccomend PPP.

To put it in a nutshell -
ppp is supported by sun, slip is not.
Celeste has some great documentation on these types of issues.
I could have found Celeste's info without bothering the list
if I had made even a superficial effort.
