Well, the right way with patch installations is : first backout old patch
and then install the new one. Erasing the patch directory in
/var/sadm/patch is not a good idea.

When I install a patch update in a Solaris system can I erase the backup
directory /var/sadm/patch/PATCH_DIR without problems?
For example I have installed patch 101945-38 and now want to install the
update 101945-39. Can I erase the /var/sadm/patch/101945-38 directory?
