SUMMARY:OpenGL display on Sparc5

It's been a while, but it took a while for the final answer to come in.
Thanks Trevor. While some of the display from SGI can be displayed, it is
only that part which is strictly X. The OpenGL code (3D display
particularly) is not supported. Full andwers and original post below.

You can only display GL/OpenGL to machines that support it. As of now Sun
does NOT support OpenGL, but will in the future. GL is NOT the same as X and
alot of people easily confuse the two.

  If all machines are networked, and if the applications are using
Xwindows, then no special hardware should be needed...

Because SGI is X-window, you should be able to rlogin to SGI machine,
then setenv DISPLAY sun.machine:0.0, then rundisplay.

Although SGI uses OpenGL, which Sun has an unboudled OpenGL software,
in that case, you could get the source code from SGI to sun, and then
recompile it with the Sun's OpenGL lib, then the SGI software will
be ported to Sun. However, this is not "using Sparc for display of
SGIs".
