My original questions:

What is the maximum file size Solaris 2.4 can support? Can this limit be
increased?

Answers:

There is a 2G file size limit in Solaris 2.5 and under. There are some
third party products that may allow you to increase this limit and the
future release of Solaris (maybe 2.6) have the capability to support
files larger than 2G.
